Albuminuria

Presence of albumin in the urine, often characterized by malleolar edema (at the ankles). We also use the term “proteinuria”. Urine is sometimes emitted with pain (cystalgia), sometimes diminished (oliguria).

Orthostatic albuminuria: presence of albumin in the urine after prolonged standing

Digestive albuminuria: produced by an overnutrition of albuminoid and nitrogenous materials

Nervous albuminuria: observed in cases of neurasthenia by overwork.

Albuminuria can also accompany pregnancy, in the event of inadequate nutrition
