Arteritis

Inflammatory or degenerative lesion of the arteries, leading to the thickening of their walls and possible progression towards gangrene.

Temporal arteritis: infection occurring after 60 years, characterized by a violent headache predominating at the temples and inflammation of the temporal arteries.

Arteritis of the lower limbs : progressive evolution of intermittent claudication when walking towards pain in recumbency (the body resting on a horizontal plane) then worsens to lead to gangrene.

Repeated cramps are sometimes the precursor sign of arteritis.
