Autism is generally defined as being the most advanced degree of schizophrenia.
Neurosis: pathological withdrawal of a child (or an adult) into his inner world with loss of contact with external reality and impossibility (or great difficulty) of contact with others. Sometimes referred to as a pervasive developmental disorder, autism often combines 3 deficits:

- abnormality of social interactions,
- restriction of interests.
Vaccination against whooping cough has been implicated in this pathology (presence of mercury in vaccines) in various studies.
