Bad Breath - Halitosis
The most common causes are: hepatobiliary disorder, decayed teeth, periodontitis, diseased gums, acetone, parasitosis, smoking, sinus or respiratory tract infections, inflammation of the tonsils, mouth ulcers, diabetes, gastrointestinal gas reflux and intestinal putrefaction, indigestion, degraded intestinal flora, certain foods (garlic, cabbage, egg or beer).
Halitoses may also be due to:
- renal failure: breath with the odor of ammonia
- diabetic coma, acetonemia: breath with the odor of fresh apple
- poisoning by hydrocyanic acid: breath with the odor of bitter almonds
- dyspepsia, liver failure: breath with the odor of rotten eggs
- pulmonary gangrene: breath with an odor that suggests putrefaction
If waking up with a pasty mouth: gallbladder to be corrected.
