Colibacillosis

The colibacilli responsible for colibacillosis are found in the intestine and in the genitourinary systems. They maintain a latent infectious state there. Bacteria can proliferate rapidly when the body's defenses are weakened. They then lodge in the spleen, joints, liver, lungs.

 • Urinary colibacillosis can present in the form of cystitis: burning when urinating urine, inflammation in the kidney (pyelonephritis).
 • Intestinal colibacillosis manifests itself by diarrhea or mycosis.
