Endometriosis - Endometritis
Endometriosis: presence of normal uterine lining outside the cavity of the uterus. The tubal lining becomes identical to the uterine lining, there may be the development of a tubal pregnancy. Endometriosis is also characterized by the development of endometriomas (benign tumors generally developing in the horns of the uterus). Endometriosis is a major cause of female infertility (23 to 40%). Pain during sexual intercourse, painful periods can be a sign of endometriosis.
Endometritis: inflammation of the inner lining of the uterus. The surface of the mucosa is sometimes dotted with small cysts (cystic endometritis).
Uterine adenomyosis: internal endometriosis of the uterus manifested by hemorrhages and pelvic pain.
