Gastroesophageal Reflux – GERD
Abnormal rise of acidic contents of the stomach into the esophagus. The main symptom is a burning that starts in the stomach and goes up to the throat, just behind the breastbone. It occurs especially in particular positions: lying down, leaning forward. Reflux often reveals the existence of a hiatal hernia due to the passage of part of the stomach above the diaphragm into the thorax which exerts pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter and causes reflux.
Pyrosis: reflux, belching and return of an acidic liquid, burning sensation rising from the stomach towards the throat, acidic secretions into the throat. mouth
It is generally necessary to correct the acid-base imbalance in the body through a judicious choice of alkalizing foods.
