Hay Fever - Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis

Irritation of the mucous membrane of the eyes and nose of allergic origin, occurring periodically at the time of flowering of grasses (periodic spasmodic coryza - csp). In the city, pollens are loaded with hydrocarbon molecules, pollen is sticky, which can be an aggravating factor in allergies.

Causes:

  • state of intoxication
  • thyroid hyperfunction
  • adrenal hypofunction

Shows up by watery, often reddened eyes, congested nose and sometimes bouts of coughing or sneezing.

Ragweed (Ambrosia artemisifolia), has pollen which causes allergic rhinitis.

Not to be confused with poison ivy (Toxicodendron radicans), an irritant plant which causes severe skin reactions.
