Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
Also called juvenile chronic arthritis or chronic inflammatory rheumatism of children. Affection more common in girls, beginning around the age of 4, characterized by damage to the joints, especially those of the hands, knees and feet, which are swollen, by a high sedimentation rate (ESR) and high neutrophilic leukocytosis. Serious ocular complications can occur (keratitis, cataract); other forms manifest by high fevers, lymph node inflammation, enlargement of the spleen
