Lichen Plane

Inflammatory skin condition also called Lichen ruber, of chronic evolution, characterized by polygonal papules of 2 to 3 mm in diameter, red tending to yellow, flattened and shiny, isolated or grouped in plaques of variable extent, finely scaly, gridded by a network of opaline streaks located on different parts of the body and even on the oral mucosa and on the face dorsal of the tongue.

The arguments in favor of an autoimmune process are the most convincing, but the cause of lichen planus has not been identified with certainty. It can be associated with other factors: medications, gold salts, etc. Or can occur following a psycho-affective shock.

The prevalence of this condition is 20% higher in people carrying the hepatitis C virus.
