Liver Hardness - Hepatic Steatosis

Accumulation of a fat called triglyceride in the liver cell itself. This disease is not a precursor of hepatitis or cirrhosis but these pathologies can be concomitant. Characterized by a sensitive or painful and enlarged liver. Congested liver, sensitive to palpation, hepatic fibrosis

Congestion due to disruption of circulation in the hepatic vessels

Root cause: imbalance between the triglycerides synthesized by the liver cell and their evacuation into the blood. During a diet with excess sugar or alcohol, there is steatosis (e.g. in diabetics or obese people) or during malnutrition lacking protein (e.g. in a low-protein vegan diet). An enzymatic deficiency can predispose to steatosis

Steatosis: fatty degeneration, invasion of anatomical elements by fats, commonly called “fatty liver”

Steatoma: hard lipoma or sebaceous cyst

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) NAFLD)concerns 20 to 30% of the population of Western countries. In the USA, 1 in 3 children and 1 in 2 adults develop hepatitis, cirrhosis or liver cancer
