Metritis - Vaginitis - Vulvitis - Ovaritis - Salpingitis

Metritis: inflammation of the cervix or body of the uterus

Vaginitis: inflammatory condition of the lining of the vagina. Vaginismus is often the expression of psychological suffering.

Oophoritis: inflammation of the ovary - Salpingitis: inflammation of a tube

Vulvitis: infection of the vulva with redness, irritation and oozing

Vaginal mycoses are recurrent conditions which can seriously disrupt the sexual and emotional life of the couple and their durability.

3 types of vaginitis:

  • infectious: caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites or yeasts: recolonize the vaginal flora with lactobacilli
  • atrophic: due to a drop in estrogen levels, after menopause: hormonal rebalance (yarrow, sage, alchemilla)
  • irritation: caused by allergic reaction to spermicide, detergents, perfumed soaps, latex condoms, tampons: apply an intravaginal cream based on Calendula

The first sexual intercourse can cause inflammation of the vulva (vulvitis) or of the urinary tract, of the bladder (cystitis). We used to talk about “honeymoon” cystitis.
