Pleurisy / Pneumonia

Pleurisy: inflammation of the pleura, with or without effusion.

The side stitch can be the signal of the beginning of pleurisy or pneumonia.

Pneumonia: infectious disease of the lung, due to lanceolate pneumococcus, characterized by inflammation of the lung lobe and the presence of a fibrinous exudate filling the alveoli pulmonary.

  • <b>Extra Hospital Pneumonia</b> (PEH) is the most common form of pneumonia. It occurs outside a hospital or other healthcare center.
  • <b>Hospital Pneumonia</b> (PH) or <b>Nosocomial Pneumonia</b> (PN) occurs after admission to a hospital establishment. It is often more serious than PEH due to the presence of multiple types of bacteria, fungi and viruses present in the healthcare environment.
