Primary Biliary Cirrhosis
Also called hypertrophic cirrhosis with chronic jaundice, Hanet's disease, chronic non-suppurative destructive cholangitis or MacMahon syndrome.
This is a liver disease almost always occurring in women. The liver is large and hard, the spleen enlarges. Blood levels of bilirubin, cholesterol, total lipids and alkaline phosphatase are high.
The progression reveals the syndrome of malabsorption, decalcification before death by digestive hemorrhage or very severe liver failure.
This pathology mainly affects women (9 out of 10) between 30 and 65 years old. Itching appears insidiously, then jaundice appears with feverish attacks.
