Rheumatoid arthritis (R.P.)
Synonyms: Progressive Chronic Polyarthritis / Chronic Deforming Rheumatism / Chronic Rheumatic Polyarthritis (CRP).
Chronic disease characterized by inflammatory joint manifestations, especially bilateral and symmetrical.
Manifested by painful flare-ups spaced between periods of remission.
Perhaps triggered by angina, overwork, trauma, emotional shock, vaccination. Sometimes there is a genetic factor present. Cold seems to have a great importance in its development.
Rheumatoid arthritis can affect any joint, but it often affects those of the hands and feet.
Synovitis: acute or chronic inflammation, dry or with effusion, of the synovial membranes, particularly the tendon synovium.
