Rachitis is a growth and ossification disorder due to a defect in the intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus, linked to vitamin D deficiency.
The bones are “soft”, fragile and deformed. The child has an arch of the legs due to the body mass supported by the weak lower limbs.
Thinnessis defined by a lasting loss of fatty tissue, coinciding or not with poor development or atrophy of the muscular masses or viscera.
