Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary infections are caused by the abnormal proliferation of infectious agents in the urinary system (kidneys, ureter, bladder and urethra)

General symptoms: pain and burning when urinating, frequent urination, cloudy urine, pressure in the lower abdomen.

Cystitis: inflammation of the bladder. The proliferation of bacteriaE. coli passes from the vulvar region to the bladder up the ureter.

Nephritis: (or nephropathy) inflammation of the kidney

Gonorrhea: painful metritis called “hot piss”

Colibacillosis: infection by colibacilli

Urethritis: inflammation of the urethra - Sexually transmitted infection.

Ureteritis: inflammation of the ureters

Bright's disease: chronic inflammation of the kidney

Salpingitis: inflammation of a uterine tube (Fallopian tube)

Pyelonephritis: inflammation of the pelvis and kidneys. Result of a bacterial infection

Glomerulonephritis: inflammation of the glomeruli (initial elements of the nephrons) bacterial or viral infection.
