Urticaria - Quincke's Edema
Hives: Release of histamine in the skin. Eruption characterized by the production of pink or red bumps resembling nettle stings, accompanied by a burning sensation and itching and progressing rapidly and often disappearing within a few hours without leaving any trace.
Angioedema: Variety of urticaria localized to the pharynx, characterized by the sudden appearance of edema of the face or mucous membranes. Considered a manifestation of anaphylaxis (increased sensitivity of the body to a foreign substance). The subcutaneous tissue is then affected.
Possible causes: medications, inhaled allergenic foods, dust mites, pollen, mold, bacterial or viral infections, insect bites, contact allergens, parasitoses, mycoses, inflammatory diseases, psychological factors, family factors, thermal agents (cold or heat), biliary problems, exposure to the sun…
