Cramps

Involuntary, intense, painful and transient contraction of the striated muscle

Multiple causes - identify them clearly:

  • cramps linked to the accumulation of lactic acid during <b>too prolonged</b> or intense effort,
  • cramps due to <b>arteritis</b>of the legs,
  • cramps due to an <b>insufficiency in potassium or calcium levels </b>in the blood,
  • nocturnal cramps which accompany <b>venous and arterial problems</b>and are linked to insufficient hydration or a disorder of the balance of mineral salts or a lack of vitamin B,
  • cramps due to <b>food causes</b> (excess of sweets, white wine, carbonated drinks)
  • cramps which appear <b>at rest</b>: generally due to a lack of Mg
  • cramps which appear <b>on exercise</b>: generally due to a lack of Ca
