Insomnia

Partial or total loss of sleep when falling asleep (nervous insomnia), or waking up between 1 and 3 a.m. (digestive, hepatic, circulatory insomnia)

Chronic insomnia: ego problem?

Causes: Too copious or indigestible meal, close to bedtime - Exciting occupation before going to bed (TV film, novel) - Poor blood oxygenation (stale air) - Absorption of stimulants: coffee, tea, tobacco - Too much sedentary lifestyle - Chronic stress - Permanent state of excitement - Bad bedding - Break in sleep cycles (major cause of fatigue: you should go to bed as soon as you feel the first wave of sleep). Women are affected twice as often as men - 15 to 20% of older people are subject to insomnia. Normally, we spend 1/3 of our lives... sleeping.

Sleep disturbances have a major impact on our daily life (feeling of fatigue, daytime sleepiness, drop in performance) and can even cause psychological, cardiac, relational, family or social problems. At any age, sleep is crucial and essential to recovering physical and mental fitness.
