Pregnancy
State of the pregnant woman beginning on the day of fertilization and ending on the day of delivery. Pregnancy does not last 9 months, but 9 lunations, that is to say 9 times 29.5 days, or approximately 265 days. The increase in the mother's weight during pregnancy is approximately 12 kg.
DES (Distilbene) is a synthetic estrogen, a drug widely used between 1940 and 1980 in pregnant women, against the risk of miscarriage. It has been found to cause lesions in girls born to these women, even though they showed no signs at birth. This drug is today accused of harming normal maternity (produces ectopic pregnancies, late miscarriages). In humans, intrauterine exposure to DES can cause hypogonadism, hypoplastic testes, alterations in spermatogenesis, infertility, urogenital malformations, testicular cancers...
